Who are we?

We are the parents and carers of children at Avonmnore school. We volunteer our time to raise funds for the children and the school. We help create the community spirit that exists in the school.

What do we do?

We organise 4 events a year.

  • Macmillan cancer coffee morning – which raises funds for Macmillan cancer
  • A Summer Fair which raises funds for the school
  • A Christmas Fair which raises funds for the school
  • A fun run – which is organised around sports day

What else do we do?

We have 2 class representatives for each year group. They help spread the message of what we are doing. Class rep details are up in the school reception area.

What is the money for?

We raise money to pay for the extra ‘fun’ things for the children.
In this past this has included:

Funding for school trips (we contribute £1 per trip, per child 3 times a year)
Planting of bulbs and shrubs around the school grounds
Contribution towards the school journey that year 5 and 6 children make
Paying for things such as a music week or cookery week
Covering the costs of a lunchtime sports club

Each year we decide with parents what we want the money to cover during the year. We aim to raise around £3000 per year.

How can I get involved?

We ALWAYS need volunteers to help with the organising and running of events. It doesn’t need to take up much of your time – but we need your energy and enthusiasm!

What else could I do?

If you don’t have time to spare, don’t worry! We are always looking for fantastic prizes/ gifts for raffles and our summer silent auction. Perhaps you are able to help with the donation of a prize. For example, in the past parents have donated things like tickets for an event, a product donation from their workplace; unused household items….
